Talking with PAUL NAGY: Promethea ReCap

This is a show on esoteric tarot study! Paul Nagy, Joy Vernon, Cynthia Tedesco, David Attwood, Valerie Sherill, Maribeth E Pittman, and Johanna Gargiulo-Sherman discuss the experience of reading the Graphic Novel Promethea by Alan Moore and illustrated by J.H. Williams. This novel was based upon the Thoth Tarot and we queried the tarot each week to add commentary to our reading of a chapter.
Paul will also announce another long-term collegial study event beginning in January-Feburay 2011. It will be offered free and without charge. It will be scheduled once weekly on Tuesday evenings for about two hours and will include the study and discussion of two recent substantial contributions Tarot. The Way of Tarot: The Spiritual Teacher in the Cards by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa (Destiny Books) offers some distinctive ways to read and understand Tarot. As a counterweight participants will read in tandem Rachel Pollack's Tarot Wisdom: Spiritual Teachings and Deeper Meanings by Rachel Pollack (Llewellyn Publications) with Jodorowsky's to provide ballast to our approach to the Camion Tarot de Marseille reading, divination and magic. More info will be presently released. You will find access to info about this study opportunity on this www.tarothermeneutics.com

December 4, 2010, Paul Nagy, Joy Vernon, Cynthia Tedesco, David Attwood, Valerie Sherill, Maribeth E Pittman, and Johanna Gargiulo-Sherman discuss the experience of reading the Graphic Novel Promethea by Alan Moore and illustrated by J.H. Williams. This novel was based upon the Thoth Tarot and we queried the tarot each week to add commentary to our reading of a chapter. The Spread we used is the one created by Johanna Gargiulo-Sherman for her classic deck, The Sacred Rose Tarot. The Elemental Power Spread was used for most chapters and we'll reflect on how to use the tarot as a partner in discussing issues of story and of the foundations of the universe and tarot itself in the Imagination.
